The first time I heard Sigur R贸s was through some online radio in times of dial-up internet, I don't know about you guys, you know what dial-up internet is, but not so many years ago, that was the reality in Brazil. But I can't even explain how it worked, only that the internet was connected to the phone's cord (wired, from the time when cell phones that only sent text messages) were still rare pieces here in our city at least. This internet was extremely expensive because it was practically like using the phone to call abroad, I think ...
I was a teenager discovering the virtual world and discovering the world of music, I was tired of everything I knew within what is considered "normal" in rock. And by chance, I ended up falling into some alternative music playlist recommended by the site, where that strange song caught my attention. And I decided to search by the name of the band. Sigur Ros. That strange name! It seems that they had recently come to Brazil, and those who knew the group had a practically spiritual experience at the show, while the rest of the confused audience just watched those white figures with a very low vitamin D appearance that sneaked in the shadows across the stage, its slight vocalist ripping the guitar with a cello bow and emitting musical notes that were between the lonely and emotional song of a whale lost in the vast ocean and a creature of some subtle dimension that hypnotizes through the vocal notes.
When I read the article briefly about the band, about the clip of the infamous song that numbed my ears (where it explained that the video was filmed all with people with down syndrome) and that the band was famous for causing some fainting during their presentation given the sound frequency they reached and their mesmerizing melodic characteristics, it was enough that I would not leave the band for the rest of the time, and even today I find myself listening to their albums, even wishing their vinyl records for my collection and waiting for a new opportunity to go and see them live while the band is still going strong. Sigur Ros has gone through countless stages and many of his albums deserve an article, but I'm writing here not about this incredible album called 脕gaetis Byrjun from 1999, but about this song, which baited me for this unique, absolutely magical, hypnotic, and melancholy dreamlike that only they are capable of executing. With you, the song Svefn-g-Englar:
Thank you for your reading, if you are interested in the band and want to talk more, I am available! Thanks for your vote!
