My best friend and I used to go to watch bands around here regularly. We were once with a cover band in a local cafe. The band was booked by my bass friend Danny (who I've written about before) and it was a "Level42 cover band", and they were amazing..... With L'dia on bass. She is a Dutch bass player who has gradually become known worldwide through YouTube, among other things.

During that concert I found out that my boyfriend used to be crazy about Level42. He knew all the songs and even knew whether a certain song was from a b-side of a single. (old school isn't it). I thought that was crazy and didn't expect him to be such a fan. We have said so many times in recent years that we should go to Level42 together, but it just didn't happen. Now I saw that they are touring in the Netherlands in November and I was able to get 2 tickets for the performance in Amsterdam, so I bought them immediately...
I can already look forward to it. I love many types and styles of music, including Level42. It is very recognizable and unique in sound. Of course also because of the great bass work of Mark King. He used to be a bit condescending about his musicality and just slacking on his bass. I think it's really great, if you can leave such a mark on the music, that everyone recognizes who it is... Great...
In addition, he is just a great musician, his technique is phenomenal. Few bass players can match his slap technique.... Fast, funky...
In less then a month we are going to see them perform live, small venue..happy people....can't wait..
Have a great evening,
Peter
