Last summer we went to Graspop Metal Meeting in Belgium. This is a big festival with all the big names. one of the bands that played there was the almighty Iron Maiden. although they were not a main act as a closing act, they did impress us. So much impression that my son, as a surprise, got tickets shortly afterwards for a solo show by Maiden in Arnhem. How cool is that :)
The band Airborne played the support act. I honestly thought it was a bit AC/DC on speed. It was nice but not great.
Maiden's tour was The Legacy of the Beast tour. Old as well as new songs. I had never seen Maiden live and now 2 times in just over 1 week :) . Live they are really amazing, and Steve Harris is a monster of a bass player.
They also changed decor every time between songs, a whole bunch of people would come on stage and rebuild the stage for the new songs from the next album. Very well done.
The Gelredome is not known for its super quality sound, but I thought it was doable in itself. Maiden did play very loud :) But that's part of the music.
Had a great evening with my youngest son, a super surprise. He should do that more often :)
Have a great night all,
Peter
