Yesterdat we had a long day in the studio with our band. In the place we normally practice the owner had installed a studio setup to record two songs with us. It was a awesome expirience . I have recorded once before with a former band I played in but my other band members never had recorded a song. So it was very much fun doing it.
We had chosen two songs:
- Sorry, by Nothing but Thieves
- Paranoid, by Black sabbath
My brother, who is our drummer, had never played with a click track. For those of you who don't know, a click track is a sound which clicks on the beats per minute. That way you can stay in the right beat-speed. It was difficult to stick to the click track. Mostly because of the fact we normally play the songs a bit faster (most musicians do lol).
Finally we managed to get the right speed of the drums so that was recorded. After that it whas my turn to play the bass parts for the songs. I had a little slip with paranoid, so I had to retake. But I was happy with the result afterwards.
After the bass we took a break. Had something to drink and talked about the proces. The great thing of recording is that you can isolate the instruments and get really confronted with your playing :)..
After the break it was time for our guitarist.
He had to do some more work, he had to record the rythm and solo guitar parts. But he did great, awesome sound and nailed the solos.
Finally our front-woman recorded the vocals. She did some extra parts to for the mixing.
It was a long dat but a awesome day. Now the songs are being mixed, so within a few day I will post part two :) The songs.
Have a great evening,
Peter
