One of the most insane bass lines is, as far as I'm concerned, Teen Town. A Weather Report song from the Album Heavy Weather. For me it was one of the first acquaintances with Jaco Pastorius, the most amazing bass player who ever lived.
Teen Town really tells a story, the build-up and characteristic bass lines, that's something on another level. The great thing is that many (well-known) bass players have covered the song in one way or another. Here are the most beautiful, in my eyes, versions.
