Description from Strava: Yeah I know, its a Friday... I don't like running on a Friday. My long run is generally on a Saturday, and I like to have a rest day before it. And I don't want to run on Sunday, as i need a rest after the long run, and that will bugger up my training for the following week
Decisions, desicions...
Well, I guess the rest day on Sunday is more important, I guess I'm gonna go out on Saturday. Technically I was aiming for a 'shorter' Long Run compared to last weeks effort, so I should be able to make it work anyway.
Besides, its the bus's fault that I'm having to do back-to-back runs!
The public transport here has been shit recently, and when I say shit, I mean a lot more shit than it normally is. They keep blaming covid and staff shortages, whereas I think its down to shambolic levels of incompetence. It was late getting me to work in the morning, and then for the journey home 2 buses didn't show, the 3rd was 10 minutes late. This resulted in me getting to the bus station late and thus having to get an even later bus (which its self was also 15 minutes late). Total journey should've been 50 minutes... in reality it was almost 2 hours.
I could have feckin' walked home in that time!!
So when I arrived home very late and flippin' furious... I was in no mood to go running. Instead I chose to sulk all evening. Fortunately, today I was at home, so didn't have to go near a bus. This meant I finished at 4:20, and was immediately able to go out and get the overdue run completed.
What a relief!
The run itself was nice and comfortable. It was slightly warmer than I had expected, which meant I didn't really need the jacket I was wearing. It was also still daylight when I set off, but I still took a headtorch with me. I ran a little further up the bypass than I had planned, but I guess I was just enjoying the run after being denied the opportunity yesterday.
At the halfway point (which was the Greetwell roundabout if you were curious), I figured it was getting dark enough, so I put the torch on for the return to home. Nice and easy, job done.
Tomorrow I am heading out to pop to the shops with a friend, and then I will go for a run afterwards. Not sure where yet, but wherever I choose it will be 'just' 20km. That should still give me 50km in total for the week, so that'll do nicely.
For now though, I'm gonna watch the newest Jurassic World film and relax :-)

About the Athlete: Living in the UK, I am an intermittent Runner, but always striving for more consistency. When I'm not training I can be found photographing insects or listening to really loud angry music (which is the best type of music obviously!)
