Description from Strava: So, new coat time. I had bought it as I needed a proper waterproof coat as part of the mandatory kit list for the upcoming race. Obviously I needed to try it on before hand just so I knew it ok etc... and tonight would be perfect, as its been raining all afternoon.
A great opportunity to test it out, except
it flippin' stopped raining!
Goddammit! Where's the rain when you need some eh?
Nevermind, it was cold out there this afternoon, so I'd need a 2nd layer, I'll wear it anyway. Today's run was a bimble out along the bypass and back. Nothing fancy, just getting the miles done. Even though there was no rain, it was still a chance try the coat out.
Verdict?
Yeah pretty happy with it. It's quite noisy and rustles a lot when I run, but that's to be expected with the plastic nylon material. I think that if I wear the running vest with it, the fabric won't move so much so should be a little quieter. I tried the hood, and I was able to adjust it so it fit snugly on my head, but still allowed some movement from side to side.
I then quickly decided that wearing a rain hood when it wasn't actually raining made me look a bit of a twat, so I took it down again 🤣
The only cause for concern is the heat I guess. It was chilly out there at 5C, and I only had shorts and t-shirt and then the coat. Within 20 minutes I was already starting to heat up. I know the whole point of waterproofing is to keep the water out, but it's also means it'll keep a lot of moisture in.
There's not much I can do about that apart from hope that the weather is either cold and wet, or warm and dry!
Anyway, run completed, and now about to have some dinner (tikka masala tonight). And I guess I'll be praying to get some actual rain on the next run
I never thought I'd be saying that!
