well if you don't like the gym then you shouldn't go. I hope it was easy to cancel. I'm suddenly reminded of an episode of Friends I think it was where 2 of the guys had been members at a gym and never went because the gym was so good at preventing you from cancelling. After this summer I may cancel my membership as well because I am not getting my money's worth anymore since I have shifted my focus to cardio. As long as I can stay motivated to go jogging in our horrible winters that we have here, I shouldn't really need a gym.
The point of the article was about finding community though and there are other ways to do that outside of a paid gym, definitely.
