I just finished a 35.001km running that lasted about 3hh:8mm:53ss !
Throws Garmin in the bin. 35k is NOT unproductive!
I had today off, the kids are back at school so what better way to spend it than by going on a long run?!
It took some real motivation to get out of the door because the weather was pretty brutal but shortly before lunch I set off. I had a route in mind but I hadn’t plotted anything and by the time I got to 10k I had changed route 2 times! I felt alright so just kept adding little bits on. This one was mainly on canal paths so a mixture of gravel and mud. I took the canal to a country park, ran round it, got back on the canal and took it to the river. Followed that to the water-sport centre, ran round the lake then took the back roads home.
Weather wise it was tough in places. 4 seasons in 1 day. There were 2 very heavy downpours (I really need a new waterproof) and in some places the wind was so strong against me that I was at near walking pace. But for the last 5 out of 7 miles it was behind me and gave me a much needed push back home.
Food wise, didn’t take enough. Normally I have something left over but this time I got through jelly babies, a sandwich, 2 bottles of a carb-drink and I was still hungry. Tip - take more than you think you’ll need!
Pizza + beer tonight. REST day tomorrow!
