Description from Strava:
We were back in Portsmouth for another visit, so of course I had to do a run. I would have liked to do the Southsea parkrun, but it has been relocated due to the work on the coastal defences. That would mean a 5km trip each way just to get to the start. There was also the factor that we did a lot of walking over the weekend with over 20k steps on two days. I had a swim in the hotel pool yesterday as my workout.
I tend to run along the seaside promenade as it is flat and it is just nice to be by the sea watching the boats go by. Lots of others have the same idea, so it is quite busy. A few brave souls take a swim in the sea, but not me. I ended up running to where parkrun happens and have to say that I would not have had a great time given how tired I was by then. It would have been nice to try the new course, but there may be other opportunities.
Some of the promenade is still shut, but this a new part near the castle. There are some new flower beds and some swing benches that are not usable yet. Last weekend was the big Victorious music festival when the whole area was fenced off and they were still clearing that on Friday.
On the way back I went along the road and through the seaside gardens. A lady was surrounded by swans at the lake as she was feeding them.
I had a shower back at the hotel before we checked out and headed to the Garage Lounge for breakfast. They do a good veggie one.
Then we drove home. As usual the M25 was a nightmare. I am so glad I do not have to drive it too often. There was also a queue at the Hindhead Tunnel on the A3 where one lane was closed. As we drove through it was all clear, but on the other side we saw a police car with another vehicle, so maybe that needed to be recovered. It is really hot in the UK again today, but it had been okay for my run and will be cooler in the week.
I enjoyed my long run, but am back in the office tomorrow. I did do my monthly power up for HPUD. It was a bigger one as $HIVE is cheap right now.
