Description from Strava:
I was helping out at parkrun again yesterday. I had the job of funnel manager, so that makes eight different jobs I have done so far. It was a nice morning and lots of people were running.
Today was my turn for a run. This one turned out a little longer than I planned, but I go with how I feel. It was fairly cold out, so I was wearing gloves for some of it. After doing the usual run around Fairfield I decided to tackle the hill up to the Grange estate in Letchworth where the other local parkrun happens. I have not run that one in a while. The hill is steep and I walked the last bit. Then it was downhill around part of the parkrun course. That is on some farm tracks that are quite uneven, but it was not at all muddy.
I was taking the long way around Stotfold when I decided to explore a footpath that look me through to a big field that had distinct paths running across the grass. I have run through some of that area before, but not often. I knew pretty much where I would come out.
I went out on the Astwick road to take the long track over the fields back to Etonbury. It was quite nice out there, with not too much wind. That bit is quite open and exposed. The main issue today was the low sun in my eyes. The clocks went back last night, so we had an extra hour in bed.
I took the direct route home after that as 14km (third of a marathon) was enough for me this time. I will keep mixing up my runs for variety and to work my stamina and speed. The pace today was not bad as I kept it under 6min/km all the way.
I was listening to the No Guitar Is Safe podcast that had an old interview with Ace Frehley (formerly of Kiss) who died last week.
