Description from Strava:
After yesterday's muddy parkrun today was much brighter and I decided to avoid places that might be mucky. I did a variant of the loop into Letchworth. What was mucky was the road up to Fairfield. I am not sure what caused that unless a tractor was able to drive up there. They would have to take down the bollards for that, but the farmer may have access.
The old asylum buildings looked nice in the sun. It is all apartments now. From there is was the long straight, but undulating road to Letchworth. The pub at the other end seems to have shut down with fencing all around it.
The road through Letchworth also undulates as I followed the route of the Standalone 10k. I have not run that for a few years, but will do it again some time. The race goes onto the bypass, but I would not risk running there when it is not coned off.
One of my podcasts was the new Reith Lectures. The Dutch historian has complained that the BBC cut out his line about Trump being corrupt, but he was condemning both left and right for the state of politics. My bone conduction headphones kept saying 'charge me' and finally gave up about 30 minutes from home. They are on charge now.
I was happy enough with my pace today and I got a second best segment time without really trying to beat it. This is the last day of the Move-ember challenge I have been doing at work. I think I have clocked up over 200km of walking, running and cycling. The latter was a couple of trips to Stotfold this week for dentist and haircut. If I were cycling regularly I could have gone a lot further, but I do not use the bike much. It needs some maintenance as the back wheel is bent.
Christmas is fast approaching and people will be checking their distance goals for the year. I did not really have any in mind, but I have done okay. Any time I get injured it hits the numbers. I hope to stay well next year, but age takes its toll on the body.
Run free!
