Description from Strava:
I was all ready for parkrun this morning. Before that I had to pop out in the car and on way back I could see the signs to the course had been put out, but when I got home there was a message to say it was off. Apparently they found at the last minute that a tree had fallen across the course and so could not go ahead.
I decided to do a longer run as I may not have time for one tomorrow. I started off by heading towards the parkrun at Henlow Bridge Lakes. There were a few people hanging around who obviously had been hoping to run and some opted to do their own run anyway. I met Gordon who organises it and he was obviously disappointed. They had to cancel for several weeks previously as the course was just too wet, but this was not expected. The weather was lovely this morning, but on Thursday we had high winds. We had some fence panels come down in our garden.
I carried on towards Henlow then out to Clifton. That road has a bit of a climb that tested my legs. In Clifton there is a big pond with various types of ducks. They have a little floating house. Some of them were hoping I had food, but they were out of luck.
I came back along the main road that is not so hilly. I ran a bit of the parkrun course and saw that we would have been going through a big puddle.
I had a few short walks and my pace was all over the place, but I keep reading that long runs should not be too intense. There are lots of videos aimed at older runners with all sorts of advice. I ought to watch more of those to see what I can learn. I do not have grand ambitions for my running. I just want to be a little quicker at parkrun and to be able to do some longer runs. I may still consider a marathon if I feel up to it, but not any time soon.
It is looking like a good day for solar power even though there are some clouds.
Enjoy your weekend and run free.
