Description from Strava:
We lost an hour as the clocks went forward last night, but I was awake anyway by 8am and so got up for a run. It does help that my watch and phone both adjust the clock automatically. I just need to set a few others.
Yesterday we had sun and then hail at one point. Today has been overcast and a little chilly with a bit of wind.
I have been watching various videos that say you should take it steady on long runs to let the body recover. I tend to go with whatever pace feels right. In Strava it tells you what 'zone' you are running in based on your time for something like a 5k. I had been in zones 3 and 4 on a lot of my runs, but zone 2 is recommended. Today I tried to slow myself down and managed to do 90% of the run in zone 2. It was still an effort with my heart working hard, but it felt okay. We shall see what difference is makes. I will mix up my other runs to get in some faster pace.
There was plenty of wildlife about. I saw red kites, squirrels and a family of moorhens with some chicks in the stream. I also saw a cat that had markings a bit like a leopard.
My podcast listening was a mix of drumming, politics and science. On a long run like this I can get through a few shows.
The Arlesey sign gained a flower bed fairly recently and it is looking good. I also noticed that Fairfield has a new sign.
Enjoy your Sunday and run free.
