Description from Strava:
After parkrun yesterday I needed something fairly gentle today. Some people I know are doing the Hitchin 10k, but I have not entered a race in a while.
I was trying for low heart rate, but was only checking my pace that did vary a bit. I need to go really slow for zone 2 and I find that hard. I went up to Fairfield and cut through the middle. There are a lot of informal community libraries around. We have one in Arlesey where people put a cupboard on their fence where anyone can leave books for others take. The one in Fairfield is in an old phone box and Henlow has one like that too. It was fairly well stocked, but I have enough to read.
As the big roundabout I headed past the horse field the the Greenway. That involves a bit of a climb before taking the turn to Standalone Farm. I had to let a bike pass me there, but it was fairly quiet. I expect it will be busy later as kids go to see the animals. There were some noisy lambs there. I also saw a few rabbits today.
I have done the road through Letchworth to Norton plenty of times. That goes up and down a bit. A guy ran past me, but I was not going to try and keep up as I tried to keep it steady. I caught up anyway as I took a different path down to Radwell Meadows, but then he was off again. We each do our own run.
It was a little cooler this morning and that suits me fine. I find that if I slow down a bit then I can just keep going. Maybe my body will adapt a bit.
The rest of the run was fine and a nice way to start the day. When I checked Strava my heart had been mostly in zone 4, but that is okay. I will do other runs where I check it.
The company Move in May challenge has a Strava club, but that is only recording walking. Running is supposed to be included in the distance totals and I have done over 20km this weekend.
We have a pull-up bar at home that I use each day. Today I managed nine chin-ups, which is better than usual. I could not quite manage ten.
Since then I have been out digging in the garden as I clear an area of grass and weeds for some wild flower seeds. We had a good shower of rain last night after a dry spell, so that should help things to grow.
Enjoy your Sunday and run free!
