Description from Strava:
The weather is a bit of a lottery lately, but it was looking good this morning. As I write this we have blue skies and it stayed dry for my long run. I was marshalling again at parkrun yesterday, so I ought to have more energy than usual as I did not run. I did a run I thought about the other week. I am avoiding muddy trails, so I stuck to decent footpaths.
The road from Arlesey to Henlow is a bit busy for my liking, but it was better once I turned off towards Henlow Camp, although the path is rough in places. This RAF base is about 100 years old and is due to shut down fairly soon. They have a grass airstrip, but there are no military flights from there. They do have an old jet by the gate that I ought to have taken a photo of.
I looped around the base up past the greyhound track where there are some new houses and on towards Shefford. That is a bit of a climb, but I was feeling pretty good. I took the selfie at the top of the hill by a house I have always been curious about. It seems to have a room at the top with windows all around. I have heard that it was something to do with the base and that could watch the planes from there.
There was a nice downhill stretch after that. Then it was back along familiar roads through Clifton and Henlow. I did take the track past Champney's to join the parkrun course where it was a little muddy.
I would not want to have run much further today, but I will try to extend these runs gradually.
I listened to an interesting podcast that interviewed a developer of the Ardour audio software I use to record my music. I also had Chasing Tone that is all about guitars.
It is looking like another wet week coming up, but I will try to get out and run anyway.
