Every building needs a strong foundation. A foundation that will keep the building strong as they build on it. That’s how every organization or association is. For the starters, is the difficult part. Having to continue firm somewhere is easier. What about starting it and being the very first to make it exist? That is the question of great strength and passion that will lead someone to answer that. An association I will talk of. A wonderful family has been created. Its tires have existed for years again but we are now being everyone under one umbrella.
The first of its kind in Ghana. An amazing journey bought by leaders to ale it stands. It’s from a great institution and the people are now great and think with great minds. Then they brought this together. This is why I’m here to educate you about the first-ever GMSA alumina association from Senior High School, the Real Amass GMSA Alumini (RAGA). Sit tight as we go with the flow of everything.
Moderators.
Our Executives
A key member should be acknowledged and the best man should be given the praise. The idea started from sister Marjan Issah. A wonderful woman of all standards. During her turn in Senior High, she was an executive of GMSA. He told me about it and said there should be people to monitor it and said I was one of them. It was a responsibility and I accepted it because it has always been our duty whether you are still there or not. So Imoro Alhassan Baalayel
and Abdallah joined the team and made it four. At the earliest stages, we took decisions for all and forwarded them to the groups we had for our members on WhatsApp.
The WhatsApp Groups
For our groups were divided into two. The people who were leaders at their time at Real Amass and the members who graduated from Amass as GMSA members. We gave the leaders the head for always informing them before the general membership bird about any decision we took. It was always smooth as sometimes they added ideas and suggested changes to some decisions and we were glad to have them. Members too also had their cut but after all the ideas were compiled from the moderation team and the leader’s page. That was how the groups and the moderator teams managed everything.
The decision of Election.
We need the executives. Real Amass has a system that represents their old students and the associations under them. So we need our executive board to be with them to be able to hear and inform us about what is happening in the school and for us the working folks. We then decided to choose these leaders and with them, we needed an election. So as I was the one who had a bit of knowledge in IT than all, I was chosen as the Electoral Commissioner by the moderation team. I had an idea of how to go by it but I was wondering how I could do it without having outsiders Voting. That was when Imoro Alhassan Balaayel suggested Dr. Fadila to help assist me with whatever I needed to do since she had an election of sorts before. She was then added to the moderation team. Abdallah and sister Marjan were always there to add up ideas. Along the way, Sister Marjan got married but was still with us. We were glad to always have her around.
The Election Process.
It all started with nominations that were open for 2 weeks. We called for applicants. As moderators, we delegated about it being for only those who were once leaders but it was agreed it should be for anyone who wishes to be an executive. So, it was for all. For nomination, you can nominate someone or yourself. That made it simple for everyone to be captured. After the 2 weeks, we contacted the nominated people and makes sure they write her accept or reject it. They accepted and that was when they were regarded as nominees and a group was created to educate them about the election.
Dr. Fadila took time out of her schedule to have a google meeting with us to educate us about the site. The site was a bit weird but she took us through it. I took note of every bit of it. It was simple. It had Colin for voters, the electorates other sisters to make sure the election is fair.
The site was simple to handle the election. The voting Key would be sent to the voters so we needed their emails. We compiled them and entered them with their names and their special voting ideas and keys.
How the Election worked for RAGA
The election date was set to be February 12, 2023. That means everything should have been set before them. I did my best with the help of Dr. Fadila to make sure everything was set before them. I entered their names, emails, and voting IDs with an initial of “RA0” followed by their numbering, and their special keys were generated randomly by me. So, I entered everything and made sure it was set before February 12. The site was so special that you could do every setting and launch it so even if on that date if you are busy it was doing it for you. I did everything on February 3 and launched the election awaiting February 12. Wasn’t it amazing? For the time-space that was there, we labeled it as the time for the nominees to do their campaigns in our groups. It was fun and educative as we loved along.
On 12, February 2023 history was written for RAGA. The first of its kind. The starting point of many. We had the elections. As I launched it to start at 6:00 am. I had to go to work, so I login in at 9:00 to check progress and then everything was mooch as it told me every Email have their details to vote. Except for those whose emails were wrong. At 5:00 pm elections ended. The results were compiled and declared by me at 9:35 pm. Site for election
Our Electives
Imoro Alhassan Baalayel, our President. His idea to have all this was nominated as President. No contender and he was elected for the presidency position. So, he is now our president. A hard-working guy played a major role in the standing of this association today. A great president I will say. Once a vice president and now the president of the first ever. He is currently a student at UHAT. He is a twin by the way. Don't ever see is a twin and think he is our president.😁
Ahmed Abdallah, our vice President. The smallish guy I call him. He was the President of the association when I was in year 2. He made me fall in love with GMSA. Today he serves under this amazing association as our Vice President. He is a young graduate of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
To our Women’s commissioner whom I don’t know much. I heard she was an executive. Maybe after I left. She won the election go 2. She is Salamatu Masur.
Abdallah Umar Musah our Imam. A great Imam I must say. He is a great guy and he is well-represented for the position too. He was the only one. He is currently a student at University for Development Studies.
Abdul Rahman Mohammed is our General Secretary. A great writer to write the right of our association. We are well represented by him and he is also a student at University for Development Studies.
Harun Abdul Adl is our Organizing Secretary. A story man we can all see. We hope he does go in organizing us. For a strong and vibrant, the organizing Secretary should be active just like the president and we believe he would be.
To our Deputy Organizing Secretary. Women’s commissioner she was when she was a student at Amass. Now she is our Deputy Organizing Secretary. She is currently a student at University for Development Studies. A great woman of all standards. Ruwaida Salifu Sumani.
Our PRO, A product from our moderation team. He played a major role in the decision and advised us on this journey. He was nominated as our PRO and he accepted it with due diligence. He is Abdallah Abubakar. When we were in school, I was in the same class as him. He served under the GMSA day student association. He was their organizer. Today, he represents us as our PRO.
These are our executives. He is currently a student at Tamale College of Education.
Conclusion
The journey hasn’t been an easy one. It all started from determination and behind was someone who pushed us. We can’t forget the role of the GMSA teachers of T. I. Ahmadiyya played in setting this up. They did great and we are glad.
We share this today not to show off but to inform. To tell the world to stand up for change. GMSA isn’t over after you have left that institution. It follows you everywhere you will always be a part of it. stay with it and be great to be a part of it.
I, who wrote this was the Electoral commissioner. I'm honored to be a part of this association. Hail RAGA! Hail Real Amass GMSA Alumni.
