I face my mom one day and ask her that when democracy system in Nigeria is like this, how cruel was it when it was in military regime?. She explained how cruel they ruled them, how they misuse their power on people they say they govern, how many lives lost in which their only sin was that they are not in power or have family member in power,so they use take their life as no one dare not confront them why they do so. I was like, when Nigerians said they fought and return to democracy ,is this the democracy they fought for?? To me, there are alot in the constitution that doesn't seem to show democracy at all.
Democracy is supposed to favor us all, the citizens right, we said it is the government of the people by the People and for the people but it isn't after all, the constitution they made favor the leaders more than it favor the citizens because tell me why a governor or president cannot be prosecuted while in office, so even if he commits an atrocity ,so he won't serve his punishment until he completes its tenure, that's even if he will because trust me in Nigeria he will surely find excuse to avoid the punishment before he is out of his post.
Another one I heard is about our police force, they are only controlled but the federal government,they can't be controlled state government even when it's in their own territories,tell me reason why we now have 3 levels of Government ,local,state and federal, I think we were just deceived that we are running democracy system of government whereas they never changed from the past system they were running, they are still running military or whatever they call it underneath and using democracy to cover up. Democracy is supposed to serve people not people serving it. May God take control of this country, Nigeria oo.
