The holiday is a time to rest, reflect, gain motivation and also to refresh ideas to fire on in the next endeavour. I’ve been involved in a lot of things this holiday. The timing of the holiday has put me into a reflective mood because it’s just a few days to the end of the year so I have been reflecting on my decisions throughout the year. The good ones and the bad ones. This is one area I feel everyone engage in whether intentionally or mindlessly. Decisions are critical aspect of human daily life and it’s what we do daily throughout the last one year. Reflecting on your past can show your pattern of living, giving deep understanding about who you are and how you operate. It’s so powerful that it can have a vast effect on our year generally, so it has the power to make or mar us, and we won’t want to make wrong decisions in the new year.
Another thing I’ve been up to during this Christmas period is using the opportunity to explore new environments, to widen my eyes and mind. I travelled down to my uncle's side, which is a bigger city than the place I live. He works with different companies so it has been an opportunity for me to widen my scope and upgrade my knowledge about popular companies and how they operate.
In the past week, I’ve gone particularly to the Honda company a few times and it’s been an eye opening for me to be in that kind of environment.
A learnt a whole lot of things, from the set up to how cars, bikes and power plants are assembled. One thing I also learnt was the company's culture. It’s funny that even in the corporate world , they had a culture they also hold on to. I saw some palm grove tree planted in good order and they all had an iron label at the root with some kind of inscription. When I look to read, I noticed it was to mark the day a prominent person visited the company for remembrance.
This holiday has also enabled me to be involved in some sightseeing when I was travelling from Lagos to Ekiti. It was a wonderful time. This is a lot to learn when sightseeing, the landscape of the country, how vast the country is.
Currently back to my family house and In their midst I find joy and solace. I truly miss them a lot and I’m happy to be among them.
