Let's start with the gym, I had always wanted to visit the guy but I had a ton of excuses, such as I didn't have what to wear, the distance is far, or what do I eat and how do I balance it with my other activities. Not until I had to sit myself down and reconfirm by asking what the purpose of the gym was to me, after I attained clarity, did I start making little changes.
The first thing I did was to save up funds to buy my gym wear. When I had a substantial amount, I went to buy gym clothes. Then I looked for a gym around my neighborhood, and when I finally found one, I decided to start. As a beginner, I had to explain to my gym coach what my needs were, and he was able to guide me. The journey had not been easy because there were times I would be very tired from work, but I had to force myself to go to the gym, and at times I had to wake up very early so I could be done with the workout before starting my 8-5 job.
I am not saying everyone should go to the gym, but we all need a daily or weekly dose of exercise because I once remember a time when I was unable to visit the gym for a week, and the effect was that my waist/back pain started again. When I went to the hospital, my doctor explained to me that it was because I stopped working out, and as a remote worker, continuous sitting down had affected my back and waist. Immediately after this experience, I decided to work out at least once a week and at most 4-5 times a week. This simply shows how daily sitting down has accumulated a backache and also how weekly exercise can relieve such pains.
The second instance is my business, just like every other business, I had start small and was obviously planning to expand. With this in mind, after my first sales, I had to reinvest it all in the business, as no matter how small my first profit was, it would still help in growing the business. My decision to go into the business started small, but I am always grateful to God for allowing me take the first step, and now I am constantly thinking about how to expand my business. Currently, I am not where I want to be, but I am definitely not where I was, as I am not overly dependent on my salary like before, and I am striving to ensure that my business does not depend on it at all.
This is my entry to week 139 of the weekly featured contest for reading, and the topic to be discussed is Little Changes, Bigger Impact.
