One of the blessings of life is the ability to procreate i.e. to give birth to one's kind. This ability helps to keep alive a kind or species and prevents from extinction. However, the human procreation process sometimes might be challenging due to some reasons which may warrant the termination of a pregnancy though in rare cases. However, there are alot of misuse or abuse associated with this especially in this era the reason while it's been discouraged.
There are many views and perspectives to the issue of abortion right from the cultural, religious, medical to the societal view. The procreation process cannot be completed without making reference to the female gender and the more reason the agitation for the respect and inclusion of women in the decision relating to conception, pregnancy and abortion. Below are some grounds in which abortion is considered as solution.
Parts of the condition that may warrant abortion of pregnancy includes threatened risk to life with women who has health challenges like Sickle Cell Disease (SCD), people living with HIV/AIDS ,(PLWHA) etc. In these category of people, in order to preserve the life of the mother, abortion might be thought of. Also, in conditions where there is a miscarriage, foetal death or deformity, abortion might be thought of as an option.
In addition, in cases of rape and under-age pregnancy, abortion may be considered. Though the government of some nations legalised it while others did not, the underline basic reality to me is that women deserve the right to abortion but with the clause of the conditions above. For single ladies who aren't in the categories above, abstainance as specified under the health guideline is the best especially when mothering is not in view.
I believe women are much involved in procreation process and their health/safety also matters, hence they deserve the right to abortion if that's the only option left. Their consent must be involved and also legally backed up by the law. In order to maintain justice, fairness and equity coupled with the right to life, there must be a balance between the cultural, religious and health views as regards abortion most especially in severe and life threatening condition.
However, there is need for awareness and orientation across nations of the world about women's health and right to life. Cases of underage pregnancy and rape should be highly discouraged. Also, more women should be enrolled for the antenatal care where those with health challenges can be properly educated and guided. In all, every child in the womb deserves the right to be born and live because the pregnancy came as a result to an input, only in rare or extreme cases should the opportunity be denied as permitted by the law and conscience.
