The frustration of being forced to take courses that have little or no relevance to your chosen field is something many students across Africa can identify with. While it’s true that a foundational knowledge of subjects like English and basic math is important for everyone, expecting, say, an arts student to master technical drawing just doesn’t make sense—this is one of the things I experienced.
