It’s natural that Christmas comes with a lot of rush, which stresses many people in different areas. There is always some form of stress attached to it, and almost everyone feels it. Even people who are planning to have fun throughout the season pass through some stress, especially with the preparations that come with the rushing nature of the season.
As of yesterday (24th December 2025), I closed from work around 9 pm, which was very unusual for me. In fact, I had to stubbornly lock up the shop and go home to rest. The piles of workload have been too much, and customers are still coming in with rushes, as if Christmas is the deadline for a lot of things.
Yes, I am into laundry services, and before this Christmas season, I usually took my time to attend to my work calmly, without pressure, due to the fact that clients would drop their clothes and plan to get them after a good number of days. But that is totally different in this Christmas season. During this period, they drop their clothes and beg to get them within a day or two just because of Christmas. I often ask them, “Where have you been all this season?” This question usually baffles me because they could have planned better instead of coming with this rushing manner.
During last year’s Christmas, I had to stop receiving work because I had planned to travel. Even then, people and customers were still coming with clothes and wanting them delivered within just a day. Yo! The stress was too much for me; I could not cope with it, and everything was clashing with my travelling date. Eventually, I had to stop receiving work. To them, it looked disappointing, but it was not my fault either. Why must they rush at the dying minutes? Did Christmas come unannounced? Lol. Well, whether we like it or not, it will always be like that.
This is what stresses me during the Christmas season, and there is absolutely no way to tame it unless I decide to stop receiving work from the 20th of December. But I dare not think of or do that because I need money too. Unfortunately, I am yet to employ workers because it is still a small-scale business.
