Giving inmates the opportunity to celebrate Christmas is a thoughtful thing to do because Christmas is the season of love. It is a time to share and to show care for others, because love is the main reason for the celebration. Offering inmates the chance to take part in this season is for a good cause, and I see nothing wrong with the act. Christmas reminds us of Christ, the reason for the season, who came to redeem us all, regardless of our sins. For that reason, whatever situation led the inmates there, they still deserve compassion and human warmth.
Some prisoners are there unjustly, while others are there because of crimes they committed. Even so, many people grow and change while in prison. Acknowledging Christmas within those walls can remind them that they are not forgotten and that they still matter as human beings. It can encourage reflection, hope, and a desire to do better. Celebrating Christmas with inmates is not about excusing wrongdoing, but about extending love and mercy in a season that calls us to do exactly that. For these reasons, allowing inmates to celebrate Christmas is meaningful and worth supporting.
Celebrating Christmas means a change of food and drinks for the inmates, and I believe it also gave them a chance to enjoy themselves. For some of them, this kind of joy may not have been felt for years while in prison. Moments like this can break the routine of confinement and offer a brief sense of normal life.
I feel it would be a day of joy for them and one they will remember, knowing that it comes only once in a while. Christmas does not happen every day, and that makes the experience more special. For some inmates who have never had anyone visit them, this act of kindness can make them feel seen and loved. It sends a message that they have not been forgotten, and that even in prison, they are still worthy of care and human connection. Such moments may seem small, but they can leave a lasting impression on those who rarely experience warmth or celebration.
