There is something truly special about weekends in Ghana. They come with a renewed sense of energy, adventure, and opportunities. One of the things that I look forward to is entering a regular Ghanaian market—where the action actually happens.
As soon as I step through the entrance, I am instantly transported by the coloured still life. Bright fabrics dangle and sway on hooks and textiles, fruits and vegetables are stacked in symmetrical piles, the healthy smell of spices adds to the sensory experience, and all around me, buyers are negotiating prices with sellers to sell their wares. The rush of sounds and the movement of the market give it an energy that is intoxicating.
The energy of the market attributes greatly to another fundamental aspect – the human element. Across the market, an incredible variety of people are in motion – busy, purposeful, focused people from all walks of life with smiles of joy and laughter. There is an unexplainable beauty in the chaos, and underneath layers of chaos is a shared cultural sense of community that is experienced and cannot be expressed to justify the feeling unless you have witnessed it in person.
This weekend, I want to share that beauty with my readers on the Hive blockchain. These little things – the sounds, the colors, the current excess of activity – are exactly what makes Ghana a wonderful place to live and travel and create stories in.
Let's share a beautiful moment by recognising and embracing joy that is found in the ordinary. Let's show the world our weekend colours.
