It is said that “cleanliness is next to Godliness”. So what's with a life when you have to struggle with being clean and tidy? Though some are created to be naturally clean, while others are just the opposite. It's not that they don't want to become cleaner or improve on the way they are, but they are just convenient with the way they are.
To some others, the convenience of those people is a mess to them because their level of tidiness and cleanliness is way different and on another level. But in all, there is always an advantage to being clean and tidy.
I have visited places where I get to appreciate their way of practicing sanity. They have everything in order, so clean and tidy. Have you been to places where you are served a meal and you are extremely cautious of every spoonful you take, and even the drinks or water on the table, so that you don't even want a drop on the floor or the table? And there are some places where, when the food even drops on the floor or the table, you can confidently pick it up without thinking twice about the consequences of doing so.
That’s cleanliness to another level. There were times when our parents would tell us not to pick anything that fell on the ground. But you still wonder why a bowl of uncooked beans is mistakenly poured on the ground, and mum will still pack them back inside the bowl and cook them again?
It is just because our level of sanity as children is low compared to when we are grown-ups. At that stage, it's difficult to tell whether something falls off in a clean place or not. Then eating such things might bring harm and damage to our health.
At times, I don’t blame those who say they don’t take food that is sold in the marketplace; they only take food they buy from supermarkets. Well packed and prepared. We can say it's their level of sanity that got them to that. Some people just feel irritated by something a little dirty. But when you get to some markets, you will not even want to visit the marketplace ever again, when you witness how some people handle foodstuffs.
My level of sanitation is on a high level; I was brought up to practice tidiness and cleanliness. And it has become a part of me that is hard to detach. Right from self-care down to my immediate surroundings. I really love everything clean.
One thing I know about cleanliness is that you don't have to be rich or extremely wealthy before you can be clean or tidy. Even in the little apartment you live in, how do you have your dresses arranged? Are they properly washed and hung? How often do you clear the cobwebs from abandoned sections of the home? How often do you wash the dishes after cooking and eating? Your waste in the waste bin has been there for how long?
None of these is something you have to do when you have money. It's a practice you indulge in and make a part of you. There is no harm in practicing healthy sanitation. It has always been acknowledged that diseases breed faster in unclean and untidy environments.
