Have you been at a point in your life where you felt you didn’t have access to the opportunities most of your mates are experiencing? Have you ever missed a great opportunity due to one or two reasons? Most at times we the youth find ourselves complaining of having nothing to do because we do not have such opportunities but one thing we forget is that opportunities don’t come to us, we go to them.
Now, imagine being at the comfort of your home all day everyday doing nothing productive, just wake up, eat, be on social media and sleep. Yet you still complain of not having opportunities. One thing I’ve learnt over the last few years is that, if you aim to achieve greatness try to position yourself in a place where you will be able to put your abilities to use. Make sure to find yourself at the right place at all times. Go out, meet new people, go for seminars, educational trips and try to build your network. Interact with people, share your ideas with them and always be open to learn.
Laziness doesn’t build great people. Successful people are great thinkers and to be a great thinker you need to change your mindset and see things from a different perspective. Sometimes you never know where you might come across a life changing opportunity. That person that you think doesn’t really matter might be the one to change your life in many ways.
Also, most of us fail to realize the million and one opportunities on social media. All we do is go online to chat, watch TikTok or tweet and do whatever we like. If only we could just take a few hours out of our day to actually make good use of social media and look for opportunities to develop ourselves instead of spending all day on Twitter and tiktok.
We are always closer to great opportunities than we think. You just need to look deeper and push a bit further. Instead of blaming the government for whatever is going on, why don’t we create opportunities for ourselves, build our network and develop ourselves in general.
