Hello there,
I hope you’re having a great day and I wish you a productive week ahead. A few months ago , by Gods grace I submitted my final year project and I was finally done with my four years course in the university.
In my country, fresh graduates from the university are required to take part in a one year national service and this program is to allow us serve our country while acquiring more skills in our field of study.
From the information being passed on to us, we were to register for our national service in September and we all did that. Before completion ,our place of postings came out and that provided everyone an opportunity to prepare before hand since we were to commence on the 1st of November.
There were a lot of processes we had to go through to finally complete our registration and unfortunately for me, I was posted away from home so I had to journey to my region of posting. I had a lot to do in the month of October and so I was unable to work on my registration until this week. I was able to finally book my appointment with the help of and
since they had already completed their registration process. I got my appointment date and all I had to do was wait for the day to come since I had already endorsed my documents with my institution.
The day came I was supposed to be there at 10:30am for my appointment. I then decided to leave around 9am so I will have more time when I get there. I was in for a surprise when told me they didn’t really work with time there so I needed to go early. I couldn’t believe it but it’s better to be safe than sorry so I quickly rushed to the place and it was around 8:30 there about and guess who I met there?
😂. If someone had to be lazy then it would be this guy cos what were you doing all this while?
There were a lot of people at the center and also I met a long queue. The most annoying part was the hall wasn’t well ventilated and that made the place really hot but I didn’t have a choice.I quickly joined the queue and as time went on, the number started to reduce gradually till I was able to sit down. The queue kept on moving till I was almost close to the first row. In the process, we were told to prepare all our documents since they didn’t want to waste time. We did that and everyone was ready. All of a sudden this man came from nowhere and started handing us these sheets asking us to fill them because it was compulsory for all NSS personnel.
It was an insurance form and from what I know it wasn’t compulsory because if it was, it would have been communicated through the NSS portal to us. The man was actually forcing people to fill it but I didn’t because I knew this was just another way these people were using to get money from us because they were going to deduct some amount of money from our allowance.
I handed him back his sheet and he looked quite mad at me but I didn’t really care cos I wasn’t going to fill it.😂 It was finally my turn and I made my way to the area where I was supposed to go through the registration process. My documents were scammed and my picture was taken. I was then directed to a different area to receive new documents for endorsement and there I had to pay some money for that. I made payment and I was asked to sit and wait for my documents. I waited for about 20 minutes before I was called to receive my documents since there were on a lunch break then. I took my documents and left and that was around 2:00pm.
Generally, I think it wasn’t a bad experience since I expected to leave very late. The staff were also very calm and they actually payed attention to us and made sure we had everything we needed. A few more steps to complete my registration process and I’ll be serving my national full time with all my strength and all my heart.😀
I hope you enjoyed reading this, thank you for your time.
