It is easy to give up on something you aren't getting a hang on; perhaps you just don't know where to begin especially when such a thing is somehow complicated. There is nothing like an easy journey to making money, everyone must have tasted a bit of challenge along the way, and some easily lose patience because they aren't getting the result they wanted while others, they would want to keep giving it a try as they stay consistent, and in the end, they look back from where they began and start to share their tough and amazing journey. The latter is my experience and all I could say is that consistency brought me this far.
For everything in life, there are always tips to guide us so we don't lose focus. Same thing with Hive. I never started the journey on a smooth ground, I had to go through lots of learning and exploring to get to where I am today. This is my second year on Hive and to let you know, I am still getting to learn new things and it makes me wonder how Hive is such a big place where you cannot get all at once. You just have to keep getting surprised each day because the more you dig through, the more you get more information to help your journey. Hive is just a big world on its own with amazing communities where people find their niche and focus on it to grow.
I joined Hive on March 30th, 2021 and the journey has been wonderful with me following these patterns and it has helped me thrive to this point in my life. Here with me are what has mostly helped me gain my feet on this platform and the more I keep staying, the sweeter the journey becomes for me.
Consistency: I don't think there is anyone who would want to leave this behind without mentioning it. Being consistent in life brings great results as it depicts your not giving up no matter what or how the journey is. Trust me, it is easy to give up on Hive if you don't understand how it works but with someone who knows what he or she wants, and the fact that I have seen and heard of many testimonies from people, it made me remain consistent by doing my best day and night to get the best too. If they could achieve that, why wouldn´t I? If you truly want to taste amazing benefits on Hive, you need to embrace this tip of being consistent. This means you have to keep showing up on this platform because for everything you do here, Hive rewards you and as the saying goes: a drop of water makes an ocean.
Engagement: This is the number 2 tip I can never remove from the list too. Do you know what happens when you are just new in an environment and you start interacting with people around you? This process brings more people and friends to you especially when you are a friendly and nice person. They would want to see more of you because of your personality. Though this may take time for them to get to know you, but you just have to keep showing up and building your character and attitude in the best way. No one thrives on Hive without engagement. You don't expect people to visit your posts when you don't show up to say "Hi, I am here with my beautiful opinion on your article". You have to interact first. Make friends through your constant and genuine comments as this makes people lured to your blog to find out who this person is. Hive needs people who are seriously engaging and have time for it. You have to do your best each day.
Join Groups: Trust me, you don't want to have a boring time on Hive, would you? Hive is blessed with communities that have a special place where they can interact, play, share ideas and help each other. There are a lot of channels on Discord you can join to make friends. By doing this, you find people who would be willing to share information with you and make your stay on Hive worth it. Join good community groups like Neoxian, Dreemport, Hive Learners, etc and you wouldn't want to miss out on those goodies happening on the channels. We learn and earn when we support ourselves and the only way through this is by making friends on this platform.
Join Contests: One of the ways to thrive especially as a newbie is to find communities that host contests and challenges. One thing I used to tell my people is that: if you want to grow here, you have to get active in contests and challenges because it is the way to make you familiar with other people. I remember my first few months on Hive were always boring and uninspiring because I don't use to earn much. I get mostly 0.5 cents on my posts and it doesn't go anywhere. I seek for help and was told to participate in contests and challenges. I did, and though most were always challenging, I still did my best. How do you improve if you aren't challenged anyways? Contests and challenges are ways I got improved in my writing as I would always learn from other writers by reading their articles and checking what they are doing right compared to what I was doing wrong. Doing this has really done great things for me and I am so happy not declining such suggestions then.
Focus on your niche: Let me tell you one good truth about Hive: there are communities you wouldn't want to miss out on even though you know you don't have an idea about some. Inasmuch as communities that are fascinating are surplus on this platform, I chose to focus on my niche and grow. Do you know why? It is easy to click on all communities and join but very difficult to stay active and be everywhere. This is why you have to pick the communities you align with and can help you improve rather than having a bunch of communities lying on your list of communities without being active there. Even if you can focus just only on 5 communities, you are good to go as long as you keep showing and supporting other members there. Pick communities that speak about your niche and ones you can flow with and be consistent with your engagement and constantly posting quality content.
Don't stop learning: One thing I like about Hive is that there are amazing communities that want you to grow and not criticise, condemn or discriminate. Everyone is welcome as long as you follow their rules. Remember this: if you don't follow a community's rule, you will be muted. I remembered my first few months on Hive and joining the Inkwell community. I used to join their creative writing challenge but anytime I post, I get positive and constructive feedback with a link to go through in order to improve my content. I left for a while as I wasn't understanding it because each week when I joined, I get such sad words as I felt my work wasn't appreciated. But it was not true, they only wanted me to improve which I started doing recently and I am doing great in the community now. Don't stop learning but be happy to receive those feedback on your posts while working towards making a change and improvement.
This is my response to the third question from the #HiveGhana community and here is the link to the original post if you are interested in participating.
