Hi everyone ☺️, I want to apologize for my absence the past 5 months. It was a time of personal growth, and I'm grateful to be back. I was excited to hear from about our first meet-up, which was scheduled for January 27, 2023 in Tamale and Kumasi. I live in Tamale and participated in the event here, which was organized by myself and
. We also served as moderators. Let's dive into how the meet-up went.
The meet-up started at 10:30am instead of its scheduled 10:00am start time. 14 attendees were present, including 5 who already had some experience with Hive but wanted further education.
I began by introducing myself and to the audience. Afterward, we delved into our discussions. As a moderator, I spoke first, followed by the general discussions. Our topics covered the following points:
The brief history of blockchain and social media blockchain, and how it operates.
An overview of the Hive blockchain, as a social media platform.
Ensured that everyone comprehended its functionality and navigation especially with the dApps of hive such as Ecency, Peakd, LeoFinance and many more. We also discussed the extra rewards we could get uses these Dapps such as Ecency points which could be used to boost posts and more. LeoFinance tokens was also discussed.
Discussed plagiarism and the consequences it brings on the Hive platform, and advised members to be mindful and avoid jeopardizing their reputation.
Taught the participants how to use images from free copyrighted sources such as pixabay.com, pexel.com, and creativecommons.com, and the importance of citing their sources.
Explained the Hive wallet, including the Hive token, HBD, and Hive Power, emphasizing the benefits of powering up and avoiding power down.
Emphasized the rewards that come from voting for fellow members and highlighted the importance of engaging in the community and building connections. Hive is a supportive community where everyone is like family, and the more you participate, the more your network grows.
Remember the adage, treat others as you wish to be treated
- I guided participants through Hive's communities and assisted them in joining their desired ones. I discussed creating quality posts and encouraged them to not lose hope if their posts aren't curated but to keep producing great content. I also mentioned the possibility of participating in community-run weekly contests and earning rewards for winning.
After answering questions to their satisfaction, I concluded the talk. We then shared snacks and took photos. Below are some of the pics we took.
I was thrilled to be a part of this fantastic meetup. A big thanks to for sponsoring the event with t-shirts, fliers, books, and snacks and not forgetting my co-partner
God bless you, bro. We also appreciate all who took time out of their schedules to attend and learn about Hive. Our goal is to continue these meetups and make the next one even bigger. Thanks to all the Hivers on the chain. Special mentions to
