Muhsin Muhammad was one of the most underrated receivers ever! He did not always have jaw dropping numbers but he consistently had above average numbers over FOURTEEN consecutive seasons. Plus, he did have a single elite season in 2004 when he had 93 receptions with 1,405 receiving yards and 16 touchdown receptions. Muhammad was named to his second and final Pro Bowl that season and was named First-Team All-Pro, his only All-Pro honor.
But I MUST emphasize this man's consistency. An average season for Muhsin looked like this:
- 61 Receptions
- 817 Receiving Yards
- 4 Touchdown Receptions
That might not be a jaw dropping stat line, but over 14 seasons, that's pretty solid! It also allowed him to have pretty good career totals. His 860 career receptions puts him 27th All-Time in the NFL in receptions. His 11,438 receiving yards places him 33rd All-Time in receiving yards.
Muhammad is best known for being a Panther, as he was in Carolina for eleven seasons. But he was a productive Bear for three seasons as well. Muhammad reached a Super Bowl with both franchises, but lost both times. Losing to Tom Brady and the Pats and Peyton Manning and the Bears. He does hold a Super Bowl record for the longest touchdown reception in Super Bowl history, going 85 yards to the house in February of 2004 against the Pats.
Muhammad is in the Panthers Hall of Honor! Solid player!
