Again, I just love seeing the minor league stats nowadays! Like what is Medicine Hat?
Jay Gibbons was an MLB player mainly for the Baltimore Orioles from 2001-2007 followed by a brief stint with the Dodgers in 2010 and 2011. He had some power to him but didn't put up any totally jaw dropping numbers. He had three seasons where he hit 20+ home runs and a single season where he had 100 RBIs.
Gibbons was accused of steroid use in 2006 and after that his career sort of fizzled out. He played in the minors in 2008 and 2009. He played a total of 61 games for the Dodgers in 2010 and 2011 before calling it a career. He retired with 127 homers, 427 RBIs, and a .260 batting average.
Interesting career that maybe was built on steroids. He also had vision issues throughout his career. I'm sure he had some level of skill. I remember Gibbons was relevant for a minute and then sort of vanished, I guess now I know why.
