White Sox fans every must love Paul Konerko. It is likely still weird he's no longer on the team! The man wore a White Sox uniform for SIXTEEN seasons from 1999 until 2014! The guy was always on the field too. In 2014, his final season, he only played in 81 games. BUT from 1999 until 2013, Konerko averaged 146 games per year! That's a tremendous stretch. He played in 2,349 games for the White Sox!
Konerko was a huge part of the team's culture thanks to his longevity, his skill AND the fact that he was the team's captain from 2006-2014. He definitely made a mark on the franchise.
Konerko recorded 2,340 hits in his career including 439 homeruns. He also had 1,412 RBIs while maintaining a solid .279 batting average.
In 2005 Konerko was named ALCS MVP on his way to helping the White Sox win their first World Series since 1917! Pretty nuts!
Konerko was also a 6x All-Star. Impressively Konerko earned his last three All-Stars consecutively later in his career at age 34-36. Konerko also won the Roberto Clemente Award in his final season in 2014.
The White Sox retired Konerko's number 14 in 2015.
He hit a grand slam in the 2005 World Series!!
