Maurice Smith had an incredibly short career in the NFL which is unfortunate considering he had some solid potential when looking at his stats in 2001. He nearly had 1,000 yards from scrimmage. Perhaps the injury that the card mentions slowed Maurice down going forward because Maurice apparently played in two more games in 2002 but recorded zero stats, and then that seems to be the end of Maurice's career.
I could not find anything about Maurice's college career or what happened to him after his career ended. Pretty mysterious indeed. Nothing on YouTube or Google except super basic facts.
But hey, that's where this card is useful at least. I can find that game he had against Dallas that the card talks about! The 148 yards Smith ran for that day would be his career high.
