Since I have only been more recently getting back into the game, I had no idea who Kevin Cash was!
He didn't have the greatest playing career ever unfortunately. He did manage to play in 246 games over eight seasons from 2002-2010 with stops in the minors throughout that time. He played for the Red Sox, Blue Jays, Devil Rays, Yankees and Astros. He recorded 117 hits, 12 homers and 58 RBIs in the MLB.
Since he retired from playing Cash has started a coaching career. Cash was hired to be the Tampa Bays Rays manager in 2014 and he's been there ever since. He's had some success too. Since 2018 the Rays have had winning records and they've been to the playoffs in four consecutive seasons.
Cash has won AL Manager of the Year twice and helped guide the Rays to a World Series appearance in 2020. Currently in 2023, the Rays are playing well. They're only three games back in the AL East Division and they're comfortably in the top Wild Card position.
Cash may not have made it as an MLB star, but he's still creating his legacy in the MLB!
