Randall Simon didn't have the greatest career ever but he hung around the league awhile, eight years to be exact. 1997-2006. He spent some time in the minor leagues throughout that time.
I remember Simon's burly stature from playing old MLB games on my PS2 and PSP.
Simon was not the most prolific MLB player ever but he did have the honor of representing his country in the World Baseball Classic, playing for the Netherlands twice in 2006 and 2009. Simon is from Curaçao which is a part of the Netherlands.
Over his eight seasons in the Majors, Simon played for the Braves, Pirates, Tigers, Devil Rays, Cubs and the PHILLIES! He played for the Tigers the most, appearing in 211 games for the franchise.
In total, Simon appeared in 537 games in the MLB. He had 455 hits, 49 homers, 237 RBIs, and a .283 batting average.
May not be a Hall of Fame career, but hey playing in 537 games in the Majors is 537 more than I ever did, he made it to me!
Lord knows why Simon did this LOL. Simon was trying to be silly it seems and the person inside did not get hurt. He actually apologized and bought sausages for the crowd later that season. The woman inside thought it was funny herself! She even received an autographed bat from Simon and she received a free vacation to Simon's home country. Ended surprisingly wholesome!
