Frank Gore is a such a great NFL legend. He's one of those players that when you heard his name you'd say, "that dude is still playing?"
Frank Gore was drafted by the 49ers way back in 2005 as a third round draft pick out of the University of Miami. Gore didn't retire until just two seasons ago in 2020!!
This card depicts a young, spry Frank Gore!
Frank Gore defies current NFL logic that running backs aren't worth the money, and can't play well once they hit the age of 30.
Frank said....
From age 30 until Gore retired at 37, Gore ran for 7,161 yards, and 30 rushing touchdowns. In that same time frame Gore hauled in 169 passes for 1,354 yards and 8 more scores.
This guy was simply the iron man or the Energizer bunny of running backs, of NFL players in general. The running back position is arguably the position on the field that gets hit and brutalized the most out of any other position.
Despite that, Gore simply didn't get hurt like, ever. In SIXTEEN YEARS as a pro, the lowest game total Gore ever recorded was eleven. In nine of his sixteen professional seasons, Gore played all sixteen games.
The NFL doesn't keep players around that can't play either. Gore stuck around because the guy could BALL! Gore surpassed the 1,000 yard rushing mark NINE times in his career.
Gore is a shoo-in Hall of Famer man. He never truly was absolutely elite except maybe in 2006 when he ran for over 1,600 yards and was a Second-Team All-Pro. BUT longevity does matter too! Frank Gore was above average or exceptional for the majority of his absurdly long career! Plus, thanks to his long career, Gore is all over the all-time record books!
