Jonathan Stewart was another really fun NFL running back to watch when he played from 2008 until he retired in 2019. Stewart was a super powerful running back, with Jerome Bettis qualities. He is referred to as a 'bowling ball' on the field by many. I wouldn't wanna try to tackle a human bowling ball LOL.
He is most well known for being a Carolina Panther where he tops the franchise's list for career rushing yards. I found this mildly surprising because I thought that DeAngelo Williams would have been number one.
Speaking of Williams, Stewart and Williams were a seriously lethal running back tandem for a number of years from about 2008-2014. The Panthers run game was so good with those two leading the way. In 2008 and 2009 Williams and Stewart combined for over 2,000 rushing yards as a tandem.
Those black and baby blue Carolina uniforms go pretty hard. Silver helmet looks nice too.
Interestingly, Stewart became the leading rusher in Panthers history and he only eclipsed 1,000 rushing yards in a season once. Stewart was a beastly short yardage and redzone weapon.
Stewart eclipsed 1,000 rushing yards in 2009 only. But in six other seasons Stewart ran for at least 750 yards. Pretty productive dude. Then take into account that Stewart found himself in the endzone often, you've got yourself a really quality back.
Jonathan Stewart's Career NFL Stats:
- 7,335 Rushing Yards
- 4.3 Yards Per Carry
- 1,295 Receiving Yards
- 162 Receptions
- 58 Total Touchdowns
- 51 Rushing
- 7 Receiving
- 1x Pro Bowl
Remembering Stewart and looking at his card reminds me of when I lived with my sister for awhile. Like ten years ago. Crazy how time flies.
