Ashura is the 10th day of Moharam which is the Islamic event. On this day Hazrat Hussein and his companions were slaughtered by Yazidis. This is the day when all over the world Shia Muslims protest and take out a procession.

You may have noted that on the day of Ashura Shia Muslims which is another sect of Islam. On this day they weep and mourn and beat themselves against the cruel act of Yazid and his army.

Muslims either Suni or Shia all are sad on this day because the main character of Islam that is Imam Hussein the grandson of Prophet Mohammad has been martyred. On the memory of this day Muslims are in protest to make other people know about this cruel act that was happened in Karbala.

One of the good things on this day I have seen that majority of the people donate blood on this day. This donation is the covenant with Hazrat Imam Hussein and express solidarity and love with him.

This is really a good act that happen on this day. On the way of procession different blood camps are located. People who wants to donate blood came to this camp and donates their blood.

These bloods are then stored and are given to different hospital to help different patients. Every year on this day many patients are recovered with the help of this blood and it has no doubt a great reward.

The act of donating blood is symbolic of sacrifice and solidarity. They memorize that day when Hazrat Hussein was slaughtered with his whole family. When their bloods were shed on the field of Karbala.

BLOOD DONATION AND MESSAGE TO THE PEOPLE ABOUT ASHURA EVENT

They believe that by donating blood we express solidarity with the grandson of prophet and this has great reward for us. Blood donors when donates blood say that this blood must not be specific for Muslims only but it must be given to a person belonging to any religion.

That is how peace and love are spread on this day and all this is thanks to the blood if imam Hussein. Another message of this blood donation is to spread peace and love among humanity which was the true teaching of Imam Hussein.

Also they do this act to make people think about this day that why these people are donating blood on this day. People get an opportunity to research about this day that what special event had occurred.

In this way the message of Karbala is conveyed to the people and that is the event which spreads love , peace and unity among human beings and express disgust with cruel people and oppressors.
