I didn't expect anything from Wrestlemania 42 yet it managed to disappoint

Hey hey everyone, like I said before WM was gonna be horrible but I never thought this bad. Not only the problem of zero stories done with dedication or art, but also bigger issues like the fact that WWE’s biggest event barely gathered 50k people in the stadium. Same city as last year, almost the same card, more expensive tickets than before, and the list goes on and on.

You’d think the whole route to this moment was badly planned so nothing took off in sales. They even reached 50k thanks to John Cena, who they had to bring almost forced. For what? Even he said it was all crap, but still let’s enjoy WM 😂

The event doesn’t feel special since they made it 2 days. That magic of reaching the showcase of immortals is gone. Now thanks to TKO it feels so generic, just like they only want to exploit sales without caring about the product.

The last-minute forced story of Roman vs Punk didn’t stand out much either. Slow fight—we know Roman can’t give more. Punk in his prime was agile, but at his age fast fights aren’t possible anymore. It had moments, but the result was another disaster. Just an acceptable match.

Even the return of beloved Paige wasn’t left as a surprise. WWE announced a day before that she signed and would be at the event. What could’ve been the best surprise was ruined. Why couldn’t they keep it secret and announce it a minute before she appeared? That would’ve been the emotion of the night. Still, Paige is beautiful—when I was a kid I fell in love with her, though later Alexa stole that kid’s heart.

From night 1 the best was the ladder match. They really shined—created a dangerous space with painful-looking moves and falls that hurt just watching. I can’t imagine falling from that height and continuing to fight like nothing happened. Respect to them. And Penta, WWE had him super underused but looks like they’ll finally give him the push he deserves with his talent.

Even though Liv isn’t the best wrestler right now, she has something that gives chemistry every time she holds a championship. I really like her character—I adore her, though not as much as Alexa 😍

I think the most awaited fight of the 2-night event was Oba vs The Beast, where Brock Lesnar had a short fight but retired, which was the best. Considering what WWE did with AJ Styles and John Cena—retired against Gunther to make him look like a threat—for nothing. He disappeared for months, then suddenly forced into a WM fight. Probably they wanted Gunther to retire Brock too. Better Brock retired in the main event so WWE and TKO wouldn’t ruin his retirement.

The bad part of the event was the super short matches. How can a championship fight last 6 minutes? Crazy. Excessive commercials everywhere—Netflix, the ring, balloons in the stadium, the commentary table, the mat, the corners. 15-minute ads longer than the matches. Better call it COMMERCIAL-MANIA.

Makes me wonder why pay for a service if they’ll give you thousands of ads. Better use a pirate app with 2 ads and watch the event. What benefit do streaming companies give you to watch legally?

Raw didn’t escape either. They tried to patch WM’s errors. There were some entertaining moments, but it didn’t feel like a PPV. Just another Monday Raw show. As long as TKO keeps making creative decisions, it’ll be hard to see wrestling as a sport—it’ll all be commercial and generic. That’s what many feel on social media.

As a sport it was totally weak, as a commercial event it was super good, which will make TKO keep giving the same for a long time.
