It is getting scary day by day because in our place the count is increasing every single day. The lockdown is helping us a bit but we cannot be sure why we are getting so much of count every single day. Chennai is the place where I live. Most of the places around my area have been blocked. When I say blocked, we are not allowed to get out of the area. Even others cannot get inside our area. We have been getting basic amenities like vegetables and fruits delivered to our house.
A few days back our government announced that there will be a very strict lockdown for the next few days. That created a panic situation and people started rushing to the markets to purchase items for a week. It is quite understandable that we have to be prepared and it is obvious that people will go to the shops and purchase things beforehand. In our family my father goes outside and buys things with proper precautions. During these announcements, my wife went to the market to purchase items.
She did mention that the market was heavily crowded because everyone wanted to buy things and have stock for nearly a week. I heard from some of my friends that in foreign countries toilet papers were on great demand when this lockdown situation started. At least we don't have that problem in India because almost 80 % of people here use water for that and it is quite rare to see someone using toilet papers. Coming back to the topic, the market is the easy place where the virus spreading can happen. I'm not just predicting or saying this just like that but today we had incidents that provided this fact right.
Over 50 market vendors have been tested positive today and the new is really hot in our city. These 50 vendors are people from one of the biggest markets in Chennai and the fear now is that how many people who purchased items from those vendors would have got the infection. This is really getting very serious. As the virus is spreading rapidly, people will also have to be very careful. We cannot avoid going to the markets to purchase our basic needs but at the same time, it is very important to have all the precautions done.
Today in another news there was also a report about doctors in some of the hospitals being tested positive. It is very sad to see such news. Doctors and Nurses really work hard in the current situation where they pledge their own life at risk to help other infected people. Some of the hospitals have been shut down near my area after having positive cases in it. I feel very bad for people who are currently affected because of this. We can only pray and say but the pain they undergo is very difficult to explain. After seeing this market incident we recently had, now it is creating a huge fear to purchase things from the market.
I hope this madness comes to an end soon and the planet heals faster. I also wish the good-hearted people like Doctors, Nurses, and Cleaners are protected from this when they render their service to people.
