We had a lovely walk around Carsington Water, which is a large reservoir owned by Severn Trent Water, who I happen to pay my water bills to! It was quite a dismal rainy day, but we saw a beautiful rainbow across the reservoir. Unfortunately, we didn't find a pot of gold at the end of it.
There was a little bit of sun on the other side of the water. The reservoir is a lovely place to have a walk, do a spot of bird watching, or just have a picnic.
There is also a visitor's centre, craft shops, a restaurant and much needed toilets! There's bird hides around the reservoir so you can look out for the many different wild birds here.
You can also enjoy a bit of windsurfing, sailing, or paddlesports. You can pay for lessons as well if you are a complete novice or you are at an advanced level.
The walk was quite level with good pathways, so it was perfect. If you want to rest or take in the views, there are plenty of places to sit by the edge of the water. Even though it was quite a dismal day, at least we had a rainbow and some nice looking clouds, not forgetting the sheep!
