In my city almost every month I find a new restaurant opening. Some of them are completely new, some of them are makeovers and some of them change themes. During the week one of the days when I was at the beach, this place came to my attention. Just a month back this was an open space and now there is a fine dining restaurant set up in the place. These domes were there previously as well but they were on the inside road and not very visible. Now they are right near the sea front and gives a nice view while dining.
The sad part is that this was an open space and we could sit here at the promenade but now the place has been taken up by the restaurant and because of the dome set ups it's not possible to sit. Almost 70% of the open space has been taken up by them. Previously children would use this space for riding bicycles, skating and playing around but now it will not be possible for them.
Previously when it was on the inside, I was always curious to know what the inside set up would be like. Now that it's here so much in open, I requested the stewardess if I could take a look at it and she happily agreed. It is the month of Ramadan so these days not many people dine out. Normally people in this month have family and friends gatherings for dinner at home. You will find very few local people dining out. Probably for the same reason the domes were empty.
I could take a look at it, there is a 4 people set up and 2 small air coolers and a mirror. I did not understand why a mirror was required, I asked the lady but she too did not have an idea, she said just to make it look fancy, but I think it must be something else. And there are lights on the dome, which gives a very glowy effect. And then you have the Sea view which makes it perfect for romantic dinners.
The pricing part of the dining is also a bit different. The place can be booked for 1 and a 1/2 hour and for that there is a flat charge of 15 OMR, which equals to 40$ and approximately 3200 INR and it will be covered up against the order placed. They must be also wanting that people should not come and just spend time in this place by ordering something small like a cup of tea or coffee, because in that manner they may not be able to recover their expenses. It's a good deal if you plan to dine out.
For me, on this evening I had some another plan for dining, hubby had chosen a sea food restaurant and wanted to go there so we put this for another time. But we still wanted to spend some time here. Besides the dome, next to it, there was an open seating also. We took that up and had a cup of tea, which again was another experience which I will share tomorrow. Quite a fancy one it was and first of a kind for me.
This is the opposite side of the Dome, where there a courtyard and seating for all the restaurants in that line. Previously these domes were placed here and on the very inside part, so was barely visible.
A self click to validate that I visited here :-)
Restaurant business is a very competitive one and to survive in it one has to keep innovating and find new ways to make it lucrative. As of now the occupancy is not 100% but as I mentioned that could be because of Ramadan. Let's see how this place goes post Ramadan.
