Hello and welcome back to my blog.
For the longest time, I wanted to learn about the brewing and potions side of the game. When I used to play Minecraft I never really focused on potions. Trading with piglins gives you Fire Resistance potions and they were all I cared about. But yesterday, after someone asked about how to brew potions I went and saw a tutorial video to make all kinds of potions.
I had most of the ingredients to make almost all different types of potions. Sugar, redstone dust, glowstone dust, fermented spider eye, nether wart etc are some of the ingredients used to make potions. I quickly made enough glass bottles and filled them with water. I stored two double chests filled with just glass bottles to be made into potions and after that, I brewed many types of potions.
The most useful ones for me were Night Vision and Fire Resistance. So, I brewed enough of them to last for weeks. I also made some potion of invisibility which I might use in future to prank others.
Fire Resistance potions are going to be very useful in the nether which I planned to go. I wanted to see if I can revive the Ender Dragon in the end and it can be done by making 4 'end crystals'. These crystals require 'eye of ender' and 'ghast tear' and I needed both of these.
My previous encounters with Ghasts have been horrible, I ended up losing almost my entire inventory twice. They can fly and shoot fireballs at you which makes a big explosion upon hitting you or the ground. The explosion can put you or the surrounding blocks on fire as well, that's why the Fire Resistance potion was crucial for this part.
I had some travel boxes set up at multiple places in the nether. One close to the nether fortress which is a hotspot for ghasts and it was the place I died twice previously.
I was very careful this time and took a variety of weapons and equipment to kill it. They have a large white body and will shoot their fireball after they see you.
Because of their large body size sometimes they get stuck so I can dig carefully and leave just 1 block-wide gap to try and hit them but I was unable to at first. I even tried pouring lava over it but they seemed to be taking no damage from it.
I even tried to shoot them with arrows but the arrows will pass through them without hurting them. I went back and came back with TNT and exploded those as close to them as I could but they even survived the explosions. I was doubting if you even can damage them so I logged off and created another single-player world just to make sure I can kill them.
On my other test server, it worked and they were taking damage but only when hit around the mouth. So, I came back and baited them to come close. I was finally able to land some hits from my axe. They don't have much health if you can hit them 2-3 times they will die dropping gunpowder and sometimes 'ghast tear'.
The drop rate of 'ghast tear' was so low and I wanted 4. They spawn randomly in this nether biome and it sometimes takes a long time for them to spawn back so I had to be very patient. I easily killed at least 12 to get the required amount of 4 ghast tears.
While I was waiting for ghasts to spawn there were occasional Enderman roaming around as well. So my ender pearl need was fulfilled simultaneously. I converted those ender pearls to the 'eye of ender' and used them with the ghast tears and glass blocks to get those "End Crystal".
Now it was the time to answer the biggest question, will this method be able to respawn the Ender dragon?
I was not sure how to place them so I watched a YouTube tutorial where the guy explained how to place the end crystals in the end. I placed one on each side of the middle platform just like in the video and that should be enough. This should have played an animation which will end with Ender Dragon appearing again in the sky.
But, sadly...it didn't work.
Why? Well, in those videos there is a portal in the center which was missing in our world. This portal appears after you defeat the Ender Dragon for the first time but there was no dragon in this world.
This could be due to some bug in the world generation or the mod added later somehow messed up with the dragon. Or perhaps, there was no dragon in the first place!?
I guess this should be the end of me trying to spawn back the Ender dragon in this world. Well, I tried all I could but looks like we were not destined to see the dragon after all. xD
