In my previous post, I talked about finding a suitable place to call home and settling down. We found a place and it looked like a flower biome close to the beach and ocean. A perfect place to gather resources and get ready for the upcoming challenges.
This is a harsh world and surviving a night in the dark is not easy. But after lighting your environment properly the mobs problem has vanished.
After having a roof over my head, the next thing was to take care of the food. You will lose your hunger bar and eventually have to eat so food is a topmost priority. I put up fences and made a farm but first I needed some wheat to lure cows and sheep inside the fence.
I punched the grass which dropped a few wheat seeds and they were sufficient for my farm. I also got some bones after killing those annoying Skeletons and these bones can be made into bonemeal which can almost instantly grow these seeds. So, in no time, I had a big wheat farm and precious wheat to lure the cattle.
Now that my food problems were solved, I went to mine and mine aggressively. I was going through a lot of stone pickaxes but couldn't find valuable ores like Iron and diamond. Well, iron was rare but still, it was not that bad. But other ores like diamond and surprisingly Lapiz Lazuli is much rarer than I expected.
After getting fed up with mining underground my house, I shifted my approach to go and look in caves as there are many exposed blocks and the chance to find rare ores increases much more. I was accompanied by another player . Both of us went down the cave using water and we almost got down to the layer with a large lava pool.
While we were still in the cave, we saw a mineshaft. I was familiar with mineshaft as I used to play Minecraft and I was confident that there would be some chest with good loot. We looked and looked but couldn't find any chest. That was a bit disappointing, at least I took those rail tracks so it was not a complete failure.
I wanted to explore more in the overworld and wanted to find some Villages. I am not sure if there are villages in Mineclone but I can see blocks like the fletching table, cartography table etc... So, I am assuming we have villages in the game. We have to search first to come to any conclusions.
I went out on a small raft. It was a vast ocean with many islands and land to explore. There were many Ocean temples (?) and not hard to find as well. Although, I couldn't find any loot in them or I should say I didn't look harder. My focus was on finding a village.
The other common structure I found in the ocean is these sunken ships. They had a couple of chests inside them with decent loot. So, it was worth looting them. One of them had a map as well. But there were no signs on the map and I don't even know if it was a treasure map or just a simple map. Anyways, I left the ocean and went on foot to find villages but I couldn't.
I crossed many biomes from Jungle to the desert to snow but haven't seen one. So, I am assuming either they don't exist or are super rare to find.
Pillager's Tower
While I was away, Xabi located a Pillager's tower a little far from our base. He called for reinforcement and three of us (Xabi, and myself) came to raid this place in the hope of finding something nice and useful in their chest.
One of the biggest challenges was they constantly roam around the area with their crossbows and have good aim. Also, they respawn quickly as well. All three of us discussed the strategy and came up with a plan to dig a tunnel and make it into the tower from the ground.
Plans rarely go as expected. I wanted to check how much their arrows give me damage and went in too close and died. All of us died a few times, sometimes blown up by creepers or shot by their crossbows. Then nighttime makes it ten times more difficult with other hostile mobs spawning.
It was a good battle and at last, we managed to capture the tower and got to the top floor. There was a chest and the contents were just trash. I best thing we got from that chest was 2 potatoes.
All that dying and killing just for a couple of potatoes. Never fought so hard in life for them xD. But it was a thrilling experience. And potatoes are a good source of food in the game and are so easy to grow.
I scrolled through all the available recipes and saw "A Hamburger". Its caption says "A tasty hamburger that is sure to lure villagers..." I created one instantly but it can't be placed on the ground. So I put it in my inventory for some time but no one came and then put it in a chest outside my house. I think I need to find out how I can use it to lure a villager. This will be game-changing.
Why else would we have emeralds in the game then...right?
So far, I am liking the challenge in Mineclone, it is much better than the minetest for me. It is not the perfect game and sometimes the lag is bad but it goes away quickly and the game is playable and very enjoyable. I am having a lot of fun.
If you want to play as well, join us in the neoxian's discord server and come to #minetest chat.
