I think at one point in our lives, we might need assistance from others, which might either be financial or material substance. If we understand this, giving won't be a problem. However, it's better to give as our power reach and not to overdo it so far that we won't end up being needy. Also, it is better to assist someone without querying their intention if we don't have anything to support them.
