Hey hey! Happy new year everyone! My yearly highlights have been delayed this year because I got sick on the 31st and I just felt better this morning so I thought to give this time again and to see how long consistency will last before my life and my workload comes crashing down on me.
So for 2025... I have to admit, last year was not the best year of my life. If I had to compare it to any of the previous rears, I would compare it to the same momentum as 2020 where I had just been stuck. Just been relearning how to draw so I couldn't produce anything that was of really great quality. I did try relearning a few things, going back to the basics a few times and even generally just adapting a new art style overall. Not a bad year if we only just consider growth but it was a terrible year in terms of motivation and consistency. That's for sure XD I can honestly say that I barely have anything to highlight nut I would still give myself a pat on the back for being present enough to get my mind going like this.
For traditional... I definitely did not do a lot of traditional this year as opposed to the previous years, IDK why, I just lost a lot of motivation but also because I had a pending site transfer this year that never materialized so I tried to keep tidy and keep all my art materials neat and in a single bag and that kind of just stopped me from doing more traditional art than I had hoped for. Aside from that, I really tried to use up most of my pens and markers in 2024 because I was thinking that by 2025, I needed to start fresh somewhere else. Unfortunatly, life had other plans and I am still stuck where I have been for the past 3 years. Hopefully this year will be the year I move forward in all aspects of my life and hopefully I can move with ease so I can have a pen and some paper ready to document my journey.
As for my my digital, I can definitely say I went back to the basics on this one this year. But I did have a new software and I had to relearn that from the ground up too. Now I'm more versed in it and now I know which textures and whatnot would fit where I would want it to be so I hope this year, I can do better pieces that could be a mix of basic and something similar to what I had when I was still drawing on my pc back in 2021 XD I really liked the style I was trying to pull off then but oh well. May 2026 be the year I get to practice more and the year I try to be a bit more colorful with my art. As of now, I still have a hard time seeing in color (still a little broken hearted) but may this year change all of that.
May this year be the year that my art prospers and my techniques improve. May 2026 give me the consistency and drive I lacked in 2026 and may it give me better opportunities that I wish came in 2025.
And hope everyone on hive gets that kind of prosperity too!
