El Cuervo a la luz de la Luna
At the end of the last digital drawing practice we were left with the sketch of a raven, and I said I wanted to go deeper into this drawing by turning it into a complete piece. I really liked the pose and style of the raven and I think it is a very good base to keep exploring shapes and details. Today I bring you a more developed version of that first drawing, with a general idea of what I would like to achieve, but not a finished work, since I consider there is still a lot of room for improvement and especially for a more polished and detailed result. Al terminar la última práctica de dibujo digital nos quedamos con el boceto de un cuervo, y dije que quería profundizar más en este dibujo convirtiéndolo en un dibujo completo. Me gustó mucho la pose y el estilo del cuervo y creo que es muy buena base para seguir explorando formas y detalles. Hoy les traigo una elaboración más completa de ese primer dibujo con una idea general de lo que me gustaría obtener, mas no una obra completada, ya que considero mucho espacio a mejora y sobre todo a un trabajo más pulido y detallado. As you can see, after refining the sketch it practically had all the structure I wanted. We are using Ibis Paint as our main drawing app because of its advantages: it is widely compatible across devices and practically free.
Como pueden ver, después de refinado el boceto prácticamente tenía toda la estructura que quería. Estamos usando Ibis Paint como aplicación de dibujo principal por las ventajas de ser ampliamente compatible entre dispositivos y prácticamente gratis.
The drawing process was quite simple, it consisted of placing with the same brush the colors I wanted. I want my final result to be dark, where the raven is practically unrecognizable and only its plumage can be distinguished when the moonlight bounces on it. I will be giving random strokes with little order because I want to seek more expressiveness than refinement, since I only want to understand the atmosphere I will face when I decide to make the final drawing. Things I take from these tests: I will not use yellow next time, maybe some tone between silver and blue, I will work with more layers to achieve deeper branches and a great variety of brushes and textures. Even so, I liked this result quite a lot in terms of the atmosphere created, so I do not consider it a wasted practice.
El proceso de dibujo fue bastante simple, consistió en colocar utilizando el mismo pincel los colores que quería. Quiero que mi resultado final sea oscuro, donde el cuervo prácticamente sea irreconocible y solo se distinga su plumaje cuando la luz de la luna rebote en ellos. Estaré dando pinceladas al azar y con poco orden porque quiero buscar más expresividad que algo refinado, ya que solo quiero conocer el ambiente al que me enfrentaré cuando decida hacer el dibujo final. Cosas que saco de estas pruebas: no usaré amarillo en la próxima ocasión, quizás algún tono entre plateado y azulado, trabajaré con más capas para lograr ramas más profundas y una gran variedad de pinceles y texturas. Aun así este resultado me gustó bastante en cuanto al ambiente creado, así que no lo considero una práctica desaprovechada.
