Hello, I came up with this rather odd post… hahaha… I hope you’ll bear with me. 😜
I asked the guys to snap some photos when I wasn’t looking, and they later shared them in the group so I’d have memories of the trip. Honestly, I’m not a fan of how I look in pictures. Haha… I’m always pulling silly faces. I’ve tried to get over it, but no luck so far… not the silly faces — those are here to stay — but the photo thing…
So here I am at the Pirate Lagoon, Puerto Escondido, with my little Akaso action camera, trying to make a few short videos to stitch together later… by the way, don’t get tired yet — I still have to post that other one.
When I manage to put the clips together you’ll see the cachiporras and the sandpipers, both big and small… well, the little one I doubt will show clearly, yet I assure you it was there. Oh man, the birdwatching was constant there — I saw cartacubas (todus multicolor), woodpeckers, arrieros (no, they didn’t show themselves but they did make themselves heard, haha…) and flycatchers, both large and small.
Guess what, I didn’t take my old Panasonic camera. So I couldn’t photograph any birds. The situation required me to carry as little weight as possible, so… no suffering, because I would’ve suffered more if I’d had to haul it on my shoulder for 85 km of pedalling. Besides, road bikes aren’t meant for carrying loads, as far as I know. If anyone thinks otherwise, raise your hand.
Before you call me repetitive, just look at these photos — what a danger. But guess why!
We couldn’t afford a twisted or broken ankle here — the next day we had to cycle back home, 85 km!!!
About to set off towards Havana.
The doubt of whether I could make it back was always there in my mind… because to top it off after the climbs and descents of the trails the day before, my thighs were sore. We kept encouraging each other. Now it will be different, going downhill, with plenty of descents! Oh yes, such delight and such danger too. If you’ve never ridden a road bike you won’t know that when going downhill they propel themselves, the wind pushes from behind and from the side, and you simply can’t stop keeping your hands firm while at the same time staying relaxed… I don’t know how to explain it, but descending a hill at 46 km/h feels tough. I always stayed a bit behind, so they and the girl went faster than me.
I took this photo myself… so it slipped in here... Although the post is about a collection of photos of me… and my Bianchi 😂, so spot it!
Well, this is a selfie of my hand with one of the boiled eggs I took to replenish my strength along the way. this is the photo I owed you. 😁 I must also mention here the contribution of
, who donated a handful of nuts and two energy bars for this journey. So tasty and so necessary. Thank you, friend!
The music playing in the background is very much in tune with what I was telling you about the return and the hills.
We found a lovely spot to cool off. And well, I jumped in… afterwards it was hard to climb back up, but they helped me.
I took this one before taking off part of my clothes, my socks and shoes… so it’s another sneaky photo.
And so… I don’t know if I’ll have more photos, surely I will. But here I’ll close transmissions for today. It was all great fun and the return much lighter. As for the dangers so often mentioned by those who love me and worry about me, what can I say? We are always exposed to danger, but we shouldn’t dwell on those ideas, otherwise we’d never do anything. We must take precautions, of course. Yet there’s a saying that goes: when something is meant for you, even if you step aside, it will still be yours; and if it isn’t, even if you put yourself in its way, it won’t be.
