It’s like I really need a comeback arc🤣
After almost a whole week of being sick, I realized that I didn’t move my body enough. I also need time to readjust my routine, so I skipped walking and cycling for another week. But it was last Sunday morning when I decided to go cycling again. I think I woke up before six, and I didn’t feel excited or anything. I knew I needed to push myself to just start cycling so that I can make it into a habit again, but I always had excuses. But last Sunday felt like I was ready to have a come back arc😆 I’m a drama queen, as you can tell🤣
“You will be so proud of yourself if you do this today.” I guess that's been my mantra lately to make myself at least get up and choose to do something else rather than being on my phone for hours. So I did! I changed my clothes, pumped up my bike tires, and spent a slow relaxing Sunday morning cycling around.
I’ve never used any apps to track my cycling, but honestly after downloading Strava, I aimed for 10k being recorded on the app. At first, I thought it was too ambitious and I was a bit worried that it would set high expectations for myself, when all I want from exercise is being consistent rather than chasing numbers on screen, if you know what I mean. But I just clicked the record button and thought, “let’s just do it like other Sundays, stroll my usual route, and document it.”
I don’t always cycle the same route on Sunday, but my destination is usually between 3 places. The first street is Kota Lama. It’s one of my favourite streets for Sunday morning cycling. It's always bustling on weekends so the atmosphere always feels lively, as many people also choose to exercise there or simply just relaxing in spots they want. Usually, I’ll spend some time sitting at the History Park, but last time I just passed by to continue wandering down the road.
Before I knew it, I arrived at the Sunday market which certainly had a different atmosphere as it was much busier (or even more chaotic haha). Usually I also stop to get some street food and park my bike in the museum parking lot, but last Sunday I didn’t feel it, so I just bought some soy milk and continued cycling.
I eventually reached the first car free day area in Tunjungan Street. This spot feels more organized than other CFD areas, probably because para vendors aren’t allowed to sell across the main road, so they’re spread out in alleys and people still could easily find them.
Now here’s the thing, usually if I have passed by a CFD area, I’ll turn onto the road that leads to my neighborhood. At that time, my Strava app had already shown over 10.000 kilometers, and I had reached my goal without even realizing it.
However, since I hadn’t stopped at any of the places I’d passed, the clock showed that it was still quite early to come back home haha, so I just continued cycling. Then, I arrived at another CFD area. As usual, the place was very crowded and I wasn’t in the mood to hunt for any food, so I chose to cycle back home.
Funnily enough, when I arrived exactly in front of my house, the Strava app showed about 19.96 km, so I turned around for a moment to cycle, probably less than a minute so that it can reached 20km LOL of course I did it on purpose😁
It was a fun day though! I never really realized that my usual Sunday cycling route is over 10km because I’ve never tracked it since 2023 when I first bought my bicycle. It felt good to see that I managed to ride 20 km, but I won’t make it as a target because I know I’m probably only hit 3km in my daily haha
That’s all for now. The most important thing is that I enjoyed the ride and felt great afterward. So, see you on another cycling adventure! Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy your exercise too :)
